Once again we are hosting a kayak/camping trip to the Apostle Islands! We start with a drive to Bayfield on August 12th, launching to Oak Island on the 13th and returning on the 16th. This trip provides an opportunity for experienced paddlers together with newer paddlers to safely enjoy a few days of great paddling and camping in the beautiful Apostle Islands. This trip is for NEWP members only, but it is easy to become a member of NEWP – membership page. For trip details, see the 2020 Apostle Islands Trip page.
2020 Door County Kayak Encampment
September 24-27, 2020
Family friendly, free to NEWP members, come and go as you can
The “Door County Kayak Encampment” will be held at Peninsula State Park Sept. 24 through 27, 2020. We have the Lakeshore group site reserved (tents only, holds up to 60 people). If you want to camp in a popup, RV or nearby lodging you’ll need to make your own arrangements. NEWP members can come and go all that weekend. Group tours will be arranged that weekend for different paddling distances and destinations. State park admittance requires daily or annual vehicle pass.
We offer a chance for those who complete the kayaking classes to take part in student outings. NEWP provides the boats and other necessary gear, as well as instructors to go along to lead the trips. See activity details
We offer open pool sessions while classes are held at the Appleton YMCA. Open pool is available to current NEWP members and current-year students. The cost is $5 per person (current-year students are free).
Open pool is held from 2:00 – 3:30 on those Sundays when our Fox Cities YMCA (Appleton) kayak classes are held from February through April. Classes (and open pools) are not held the weekends of Canoecopia and Easter. Check the classes page on this website for specifics.
Several groups of paddlers around northeast Wisconsin enjoy these social paddles on a weekly basis. Please contact us with corrections or additions to this list. Arrive early enough to unload and be ready to paddle by the listed launch times.
