Appleton Locks Paddle - Sept. 28
Experience the Fox Locks in a big way on a trip that picks up where the Park-to-Park normally ends. We pass through all four Appleton locks on a trip from Appleton's Lutz Park to Sunset Park in Kimberly. The Fox River lock and dam system is still a marvel of 19th century technology. The Lower Fox drops in elevation from Lake Winnebago to Green Bay a distance about equal to Niagara Falls.
If the flow rate as measured by the USGS gauge in Appleton is registering higher than 6,000 cubic feet per second the morning of the paddle, we will switch to the alternate route -- launching from Sunset Park at 9:30 a.m., paddling upriver to Telulah Park and back to Sunset Park
- Please let us know! Use the link above to let us know we still should count you in. It helps us plan but doesn't commit you to the trip. You will register and pay your $10 per person at the launch (under 16 free with an adult).
- Make registration go faster. Fill out this online fillable form for the ACA Adult Waiver or ACA Minor Waiver in advance and bring it to the landing. This is a good time to become a member of NEWP for $10 per year plus $25 for ACA (American Canoe Association) membership.
