OCT 6 TRIP WILL LAUNCH AND LAND AT SUNSET PARK↵
The river is in charge and it is dictating that our Oct. 6 paddle will not be going through the Fox Locks. At midweek, the flow measured by the U.S. Geologic Service has actually gone back up above 10,000 cubic feet per second, making a group trip passing near the dams at the four locks unsafe. Our new revised plan is to launch from Sunset Park in Kimberly, where we had planned to end the Appleton Locks Paddle. We will paddle upstream about 2.5 miles before paddling back downstream to Sunset Park. The fee for the revised route has been reduced to $5 per person, under age 16 still free.
STILL COMING? Please indicate if you will be joining us Saturday by filling out this shortened form.
The Fox River lock and dam system is still a marvel of 19th century technology. The Lower Fox drops in elevation from Lake Winnebago to Green Bay a distance about equal to Niagara Falls.
BEFORE THE PADDLE
- Please let us know! Use the link above to let us know we still should count you in. It helps us plan but doesn't commit you to the trip. You will register and pay your $5 per person at the launch (under 16 free with an adult).
- Make registration go faster. Fill out this online fillable form for the ACA Adult Waiver or ACA Youth Waiver in advance and bring it to the landing. This is a good time to become a member of NEWP for $10 per year.
